What This Blog Is For
The guides are for the timeless questions. This is for everything else: seasonal notes, what I'm seeing in Illinois co-ops right now, and things that move too fast for a reference page.
The guides on this site answer the questions that don’t change much year to year: what Illinois requires, how to withdraw a child, what a homeschool day looks like. Reference pages like that work best when they sit still.
This is the other kind of writing. Shorter, more opinionated, and dated on purpose. Enrollment windows, a curriculum sale worth knowing about, something I noticed running co-ops this season, a law that’s moving through Springfield and isn’t settled enough for the law page yet. If it would go stale on a reference page, it belongs here instead.
Nothing here replaces the guides. If you’re brand new, start with Homeschool 101. Come back here for whatever’s happening right now.

The Illinois Homeschool Starter Kit
A one-page compliance checklist, a withdrawal letter you can copy word for word, and a record-keeping log that fits on a single sheet. The paperwork part, done, so you can get on with the actual question of what to teach.
